Abstract (English): The purpose of this study is to identify whether there is a "common ground" about the social representations (SR) that preschool principals have about the conception of language (in general and specifically oral and written) and language teaching, as well as to identify the core and peripheral elements of SR to understand how knowledge about these objects of representation is organized. Fifty female preschool principals from the city and two municipalities in the state of Durango, Mexico, took part in this study. The tool used was a free association questionnaire, and the answers were analyzed lexicographically using the iramuteq software. This article focuses on describing the data analysis process. The results show, in general terms, that the participating principals have a traditional view of oral language and the way to teach it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
