Abstract: The article focuses on using a custom electric guitar–building project as a culturally relevant, hands-on approach to engage girls and gender-expansive students in engineering and to strengthen their STEM identity. Topics include addressing diversity and inclusion in engineering through music-based learning, teaching physics and electrical engineering concepts via guitar design and fabrication, and applying project-based, scaffolded design processes that increase motivation and value in STEM.
