Abstract (English): In 1927, the Geneva-based Union Internationale de Sécours aux Enfants launched a worldwide competition for children's drawings that embodied the vision of the five principles of the Geneva Declaration on the Rights of the Child. The Declaration was promoted by the organisation and adopted in 1924 by the League of Nations. In this article we will detail the events that made this competition possible, the people who took part, the involvement of child protection associations, the objectives, the participation of the countries and the context in which several actors were mobilised in favour of children's rights. In order to document this event, we accessed three relevant archives: the Archives d'État of Geneva, the International Bureau of Education and the United Nations, which hold all the documentation relating to this competition. A content analysis was carried out on a set of selected drawings. The result is that the objectives behind this action are in line with two of the fundamental principles of both the 1924 Geneva Declaration and the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child, namely child participation and the formation of a global citizenship.
