Abstract (English): Introduction. Teaching as a profession involves both occupational and emotional demands, where life satisfaction and emotional exhaustion can be influenced by work-related stress and job satisfaction. The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of job satisfaction and job stress on emotional exhaustion and life satisfaction among Peruvian basic education teachers. Method. A total of 319 teachers participated, selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling, ranging in age from 21 to 68 years; 218 were women and 101 were men. Instruments with adequate psychometric properties were used to measure the study variables, including the Life Satisfaction Scale, Emotional Exhaustion Scale, Job Satisfaction Scale, and the Irritation Scale as a measure of job stress. Descriptive analyses, hypothesis testing through correlation analyses, and the evaluation of a hypothetical model using confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM) were conducted. Results. The structural equation model showed that job stress positively predicted emotional exhaustion (β = .67, p < .001) and negatively predicted job satisfaction (β = -.25, p < .01). Additionally, emotional exhaustion had a direct and negative effect on job satisfaction (β = -.27, p < .01). Job satisfaction, in turn, was positively associated with life satisfaction (β = .78, p < .001), partially mediating the effects of job stress and emotional exhaustion on life satisfaction. Factor loadings ranged from .46 to .87, supporting the validity of the latent constructs. The model demonstrated satisfactory fit indices (X² = 672.551, df = 401, X²/df = 1.67, CFI = .979, TLI = .977, RMSEA = .046, SRMR = .062). Conclusion. This study provides a predictive model of life satisfaction and emotional exhaustion in basic education teachers. Job stress increases emotional exhaustion and reduces job satisfaction, which, in turn, plays a key role in teachers' well-being and life satisfaction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Introducción.
