Abstract: The article explores the disadvantages of assigning a paraprofessional to a student. Topics discussed include the "Velcro" model where a paraprofessional becomes attached to a single student all day, consequences of this model, description of a fluid support model where paraprofessionals move fluidly throughout the classroom and the steps in transforming how schools use paraprofessionals.
