Abstract: The article presents a teacher's guide for lesson planning in the manner of teaching the issue about firefighters and an assessment for literacy skills in the U.S. Step by step procedure was presented in teaching the issue to students. In assessing the students' literacy skills, administration of the assessment was detailed and provided illustrations as well.
