| Abstract: | The article presents a reprint of the article "The development and appraisal of workbooks in the social sciences," by R.M. Tryon, which appeared in the January 1938 issue of the "School Review". The appraisals of workbooks in general and in the social sciences in particular are based on mere opinion. There is a saying to the effect that one's opinion is no better than one's information. The author describes controlled experiments involving workbooks in the social sciences. The experiments were organized and conducted according to recognized technique in classroom experimentation. |
