Abstract: After the COVID-19 pandemic, telemedicine utilization became advantageous and even essential for healthcare access. Although the number of telemedicine users has increased in all age groups, older adults are still underutilizing telemedicine, compared to younger people. The present study aimed to understand the characteristics of older adults who were more or less interested in utilizing telemedicine than others. The authors examined potential predictors of older adults' telemedicine adoption, guided by the technological-personal-environmental framework. After survey data were collected between September 2022 and March 2023 in the United States, a total of 185 survey responses were examined using multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicated that older adults who had greater perceived competence in handling information and communication technology, those who knew a greater number of peers using telemedicine, and those who had poorer mobility were more interested in utilizing telemedicine than older adults who did not share these characteristics. As posited by the technological-personal-environmental framework, technological, personal, and environmental domains were all significantly linked with older adults' telemedicine utilization. This study highlights the fact that skills for handling information and communication technology still play a critical role in older adults' utilization of telemedicine, despite the narrowing digital divide. The finding will contribute to the development of effective strategies to help older adults access a wider range of options for healthcare services. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
