| Abstract: | This article reviews *Freedom to Play: A Ludic Language Pedagogy Primer* by Jonathan deHaan and James York, which introduces the Ludic Language Pedagogy (LLP) framework for teaching language and literacies through games and play within a progressive education foundation. LLP emphasizes three elements—ludic (playfulness), language (including literacies), and pedagogy (methods and materials)—to foster transformative, inquiry-driven learning that challenges traditional, efficiency-focused educational models.
