Abstract: This article provides an overview of the themes and evolution of the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) annual conferences over the past 50 years, highlighting their role in shaping library and information science (LIS) education. ALISE’s mission is to advance LIS education through research, pedagogy, and community building, with conferences serving as key venues for professional exchange, networking, and development. Recurring conference themes have addressed topics such as change and innovation, research, teaching, practice connections, internationalization, community engagement, interdisciplinarity, organizational survival, diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and ethics.
