| Abstract: | Internationalization is inherently complex, involving diverse stakeholders, shifting policy frameworks, and a need to adapt to rapid global changes. This study offers a comprehensive overview of the literature around internationalization of higher education through an integrated bibliometric analysis of literature with keyword compilation and critical assessment of key articles. The analysis was carried out with 4,840 publications obtained from the Scopus database covering the years 1974–2023. The findings offer new perspectives on the future of internationalization addressing emerging challenges as equity, diversity and climate adaptability and proposing avenues for further research, with implications for academia and society.
