Abstract: The article discusses the "School Library Journal's 2026 Budget and Spending Survey" which projected library media center (LMC) budgets and revealed a largely flat funding environment across school types in the U.S. Topics include factors that affect the impact of flat budgets in a period of economic uncertainty, elementary budgets during the 2025-2026 and 2024-2025 school year period, and other barriers aside from budget allocations when it comes to challenges funding school libraries.
