Abstract: This article examines Alaska's education spending for the fiscal year 2025 and the budget for 2026. Funding priorities included increases in the Base Student Allocation (BSA) and formula-driven support for K–12 districts, while reductions occurred in teacher certification, career and technical education, and school debt reimbursement. The 2025 legislative session was marked by an unprecedented veto override, when lawmakers reversed Governor Dunleavy's line-item veto of a portion of the BSA increase during a special session. This was the first successful override of a governor's budget veto since 1987, reflecting a shift in Alaska's balance of power between executive and legislative branches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
