Abstract: Historically and recently, the Catholic Church has emphasized the need to foster a dialogue between faith and reason at Catholic universities. To look for evidence of this dialogue, this study examined the incorporation of theological language into general education course descriptions across the 100 American Catholic universities that require a Christian theology course. The findings revealed that only 14% integrated theological language into more than one other non-theological general education course. Our findings reveal little evidence that general education at Catholic universities outside of theology fulfills the Catholic commitment to a dialogue between faith and reason. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
