Abstract: School-based mental health provides a unique opportunity for counselor education programs to create critical training experiences for preservice counselors while meeting the need of the larger community. This report from the field outlines the interdisciplinary training opportunity created in partnership between the University of Arizona and a local school district. Authors discuss the mental health needs of the community which led to the development of Talk It Out as a free, school-based mental health clinic. Authors also discuss the clinical training model which supports preservice school, clinical mental health, and rehabilitation counselors along with the challenges, opportunities, and lessons learned in developing and sustaining a free, school-based mental health clinic.
