| Abstract (English): | The article deals with Jürgen Habermas's theory of deliberation as a didactic approach to improving discussions in social science education. Deliberation, understood as the careful weighing of arguments in inclusive and equal discourse processes, is regarded as a normative reference model that can enhance the quality of classroom discussions. Empirical studies show that deliberative processes can promote subject knowledge and reduce affective polarization, with moderation, group composition, and discussion structure being decisive factors. For school practice, this means that teachers, as moderators, should ensure the active participation of all learners and carefully select discussion formats and materials in order to strengthen judgment competence and democratic participation. At the same time, challenges such as the obligation to reach consensus, dealing with polarization, and the transferability to school contexts remain unresolved and require further research.
