Abstract: The book *Pedagogy of Global Events* examines the effectiveness of global events—such as concerts, film festivals, and social network happenings—in educating the public about critical global issues and encouraging civic action. Authors Timothy Patterson and William Gaudelli analyze these events through the lenses of media reception, public pedagogy, and global citizenship education (GCE), highlighting both the potential and limitations of such events in fostering deeper understanding and engagement. Their case studies reveal that while events like the Global Citizen Festival and United Nations Association Film Festival raise awareness, they often fall short in promoting sustained action, sometimes reinforcing simplistic North/South dynamics.
