Abstract (English): The article focuses on the work and pedagogical, social, and political thought of Jane Addams (1860–1935), a prominent American thinker, social reformer, activist, suffragist, and pacifist. It presents the Spanish translation of her book *The Spirit of Youth and the Streets of the City* (1909), which addresses the importance of play and leisure in education and democracy, as well as her critique of industrial modernity and the privatization of children's free time. Additionally, other translated writings are included that reflect her commitment to social justice, peace, and equality, and her vision of education as a tool to transform unjust social conditions. The work highlights the relevance of the Hull House settlement, founded by Addams in Chicago, as a pioneering educational and community space, and emphasizes the need to recover its legacy to enrich contemporary educational theory and practice.
