| Abstract (English): |
Objective: to analyze the presence of state anxiety in relation to examinations among university students. Methodology: this was a cross-sectional and correlational study conducted with a nonprobabilistic sample of 42 students from the biological sciences area. Data were collected through the Google Forms platform, where the State Test Anxiety Inventory was administered after students had completed their semester examinations. The nonparametric chi-square statistic was used with a 95% confidence level to establish statistically significant relationships between state anxiety and other variables. Results: high levels of state anxiety were observed in 47.6% of participants, while 23.8% presented moderate levels. A statistically significant relationship was found between state anxiety and gender, academic performance, satisfaction with academic performance, and students' self-perception of anxiety. Conclusions: state anxiety was present in 71.4% of the participants, constituting a problem that affects both their academic performance and their satisfaction with the academic trajectory undertaken during their university preparation. In addition, participants expressed discouragement and demotivation, which may trigger negative self-perceptions and generate feelings of frustration that affect their life trajectories.
