| Abstract: |
Starting with an analysis of the cultural and aesthetic significance of white, this article explores several illustrated books in which the "white" of the page transforms from a simple background into a central element of the narrative process. In dialogue with 20th-century artistic explorations of monochrome and emptiness, an examination of the works of Remy Charlip and Bruno Munari demonstrates how the white page transforms from a neutral background into an active space for the construction of meaning, capable of generating rhythm, silence, and active, interpretive engagement. White thus emerges as a poetic and pedagogical device that stimulates the reader's imagination and redefines the reading experience in contemporary picture books. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
