Abstract: The article focuses on the 2025 Research Applications in Information and Library Studies (RAILS) Conference, held at Charles Sturt University’s North Sydney campus, which brought together nearly 100 participants from seven countries to discuss developments in library and information studies (LIS). The conference, sponsored for the first time by the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T), emphasized themes of honoring LIS’s legacy while addressing future challenges such as equitable access, ethical practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The special issue arising from the conference features research on culturally responsive approaches, inclusion of Indigenous and marginalized perspectives, technological impacts on LIS work, and practical innovations in the field. It also highlights contributions from research students across Oceania and Asia, underscoring the discipline’s ongoing evolution and global engagement. [Extracted from the article]
