| Abstract: | The article discusses the three important dimensions essential to the development of resource teacher programs in the U.S. The direct versus indirect service dimension describes whether children receive instruction directly from the resource teacher of from the classroom teacher with the resource teacher serving as a consultant. Ability-oriented programs concentrate on so called central processing mechanisms under the skill versus ability orientation dimension. For resident versus itinerant dimension, a resource programs should be less affected by itinerant demands since the classroom teacher can implement and maintain the instructional program. |
