Abstract: The article reports on the program conducted by the New Orleans Public School System in New Orleans, Louisiana. The program aims to produce elementary substitute teachers, preparing them for effectively participating in public school teaching. Those substitute teachers who had completed the required training were called relief teachers and are included in the micro resource unit who will then aid substitute teachers in classroom activities. The program was found out to be successful because increased motivation and interest were observed in children under the program.
