| Abstract: |
The article looks at the ongoing changes in the presidencies of colleges and universities in the U.S. The purpose of the investigation is to uncover alternative causes of excessive replacement apart from death and retirement due to long period of service. The study reveals that the trend is attributed to both physical and mental stresses cause by rigorous professional demands. Another contributing factor cited is the conflict between the president and his board of trustees on educational policies and practices. With this, the author suggests that the increasing administrative turnover of institutions for higher education should be given serious attention. |
