The article analyzes a high school program of study called Tech Prep in the United States. Tech Prep prepares students to make the transition from high school to postsecondary pre-graduated technical education. The program has become popular among federal policy makers since 1990. It has been found that 70% of school districts that serviced 90% of all high school students offer Tech Prep programs. Tech Prep is defined by the Congressional Act as a joined or articulated secondary and postsecondary program. It tries to give junior and senior high school students a focused program of both advanced scholastics and technical ability education. It is same as college prep and career and technical education. The students that take up Tech Prep need to take advanced mathematics courses, applied science courses, and other occupational/technical courses. |
