Abstract: The article focuses on money spent in the United States on building and renovating schools. It is suggested that not enough of the money spent went toward disadvantaged districts or those serving minority and low-income students. Allocation of the funds towards improving school safety and enhancing learning in low income and higher income schools is analyzed. The effects of the No Child Left Behind Act on government funding of school improvement is discussed.
