Abstract: The article focuses on printing on demand (POD). Particular focus is given to the growing popularity and the benefits of POD. A brief historical overview of POD is presented. The question of who does the printing and where is brought up. The Espresso Book Machine, which prints on-demand and on-site, is discussed. The article mentions POD programs such as Amazon's subsidiary BookSurge. The future of POD in libraries is also discussed.
