Abstract: The article reports that while intelligence quotient (IQ) scores are rising, children are receiving lower scores for tests regarding space, volume and conservation of quantities. Michael Shayer, a professor at King's College in London, England, measured the ability of children to judge volume when pouring liquids in different containers and noted a decrease in test scores. The rise in IQ scores indicates that visual and spatial skills have improved.
