| People: | Derrida, Jacques, 1930-2004 |
| Abstract: | The article discusses several issues regarding the way artist Jacques Derrida has shown that the frame is never questioned in the western aesthetic tradition. Derrida notes that the notion of exteriority is predicated on the illusion of exteriority as induced by the frame. She also questions the assumption that the frame is subordinate to the ergonal work proper. The author cites that the frame deploys the illusion of coherence and internal stability, holds an art work together and elicits spectatorial gaze. |
