Abstract: An essay is presented on the educational inequalities between the rich and the poor. It offers a discussion on the observation of the author with regards to the contemporary American school system. He relates that there is a correlation between academic achievement and social class, that only the affluent have more chances to succeed. However, he points the blame on educators, inadequate resources and the reality of poverty on the poor performance of students in underprivileged communities.
