Abstract: The article discusses the way in which author Susan Sontag was able to express her feelings about the world around her through her books. One book discussed in the article as an example of how Sontag used literature to communicate about the world around her is "Reborn: Journals and Notebooks 1947-1963." Topics that Sontag discussed in the book include her sexuality, her marriage to sociologist Philip Rieff and the gay and lesbian community of that time period.
