Abstract: In this article the author discusses the issues in merit aid. He cites that merit aid, which is regarded as non need-based aid, is a type of grants or scholarship funded by colleges and universities. He cites the contention of the others to eliminate the aid claiming that it only support wealthy student. He discusses the importance of merit aid in supporting middle class student, and remarks that the aid is not only based on the finances of the student but also on his academic performance.
