Abstract: The article focuses on general practice (GP) registrars as teachers as found out from a review of several literary works on the issue. The review demonstrated that GP registrars were aware of the benefits of taking on teaching roles, but felt that participation should be voluntary as there was a need to acquire teaching skills. The literature also referred to the issue of limited teaching capacity in GP and how developing teaching roles for GP registrars would help in meeting the needs of the growing body of learners.
