Abstract: The article focuses on the effects of the democratization of media production by media users particularly the young people to participatory culture and social relations. It emphasizes the representation of young people in media accounts in which their roles as media audiences have transformed into citizen journalists and video artists and they have become synonymous with the new technology. The impact of online interactions between young media audiences and corporate producers and the notion that young people may be the forefront of a popular media production are also examined. The author also looks at the participatory processes behind the incorporation of the television programs such as "Gossip Girl" and "The Colbert Report" by its young audiences.
