| Abstract: | The article presents a study which looks into the association of hand functions across the life span of adults. It examines the relations of hand strength, steadiness, and hand functions of adults ages 18 to 89 years old through performing functional tests including Grooved Pegboard test, the game Operation, and scissor and tracing task. Also detailed is the measurement of hand strength which includes finger abduction, precision pinch, and handgrip. It concludes that physiological mechanisms that contribute to the differences in steadiness also influence the performance of fine motor tasks of the hand. |
