Abstract: The article presents the author's insights on the application of extended texts during guided reading. The author explains the three phases of the guide reading cycle which are the orientation, the independent engagement, and the critical reading and discussion. She says that he has chosen the multimodal picture books "Sand Swimmers: The Secret Lift of Australia's Dead Heart," by Narelle Oliver and "Dust Echoes" to provide students with a wide range of the creation of texts.
