Abstract: In this article the author discusses financing for educational technology in U.S. schools and provides recommendations to school technology coordinators on how to effectively plan for the ongoing costs associated with educational technology amid shrinking school budgets. Particular focus is given to suggestions regarding budgeting techniques that align with the goals of the district and additionally, the author comments on how bulk purchases can reduce the price of many forms of technology. Other recommendations provided in the article include using Internet-based open-source software, relying on cloud computing to save computer files and documents, and eliminating obsolete computer software and technologies.
