| Abstract: | The article discusses 10 learning strategies for teachers to help students become confident, strong readers. The author speaks of her personal experience as a teacher in New York City, and suggests ways that instructors can improve students' reading skills. According to the author, it is important for teachers to be aware and accepting of different, non-traditional forms of reading, such as web sites, magazines and instruction manuals. Giving students an opportunity to be interactive and social while they read, allowing them to read at their own comfort level, and encouraging students to read a variety of genres are all, according to the author, learning techniques that could help students. |
