| Abstract: | Especially with the appearance of the World Wide Web, the Internet has had a major impact on scholarly activity in the fields of Anthropology and Sociology, although their principal scholarly records remain largely print-bound and continued access to and use of these print materials is crucial for study, teaching, research, and publication. However, the potential both to provide substantial resources in support of networked scholarship and to influence the shaping of these disciplines themselves is now acknowledged. Who and which organizations are taking the leadership in bringing these disciplines to the Internet, what reference and research resources are currently available, and what the prospects and consequences for research are if the current trends continue are all discussed.
