Subject Terms: *Learning, *Computer networks, *Computer simulation, *Educational psychology, Simulation methods & models
Company/Entity: Cisco Networking Academy Program
Abstract: The article discusses a study which sought to identify instructional factors that would result in optimal learning in a complex simulation environment. This was performed by manipulating design features that may affect a learner's cognitive load. Experiments were conducted in which subjects viewed a tutorial on how to use a computer-networking training simulation developed by the Cisco Networking Academy, called Packet Tracer. The practical and theoretical implications of the study are presented.
