Abstract: The article presents information on librarian Anne Carroll Moore, the first children's librarian at the New York Public Library from 1906 to 1941. Moore is considered as the first children's librarians in the U.S.; and she believed that good children's literature can be helpful in improving children's minds. Moore was associated with the creation of the two prominent awards for children's literature in the U.S., the Newbery Medal, and the Caldecott Medal.
