| Abstract (English): | Many authors have pointed out that physical activity and sport can be excellent means to promote psychosocial aspects such as respect, self-control, self-esteem, empathy, effort, self-direction, cooperation, help others, and leadership. However, physical activity and sport by themselves do not automatically foster the abovementioned aspects, this will depend on how, in a positive or negative way, physical activity and sport be used. The purpose of this article is to present the Responsibility Model created by Donald Hellison as a contrasted tool that includes the strategies and methodology to promote psychosocial aspects with underserved youth through physical activity and sport. Finally, it will be expounded those studies that have implemented responsibility-based physical activity programs, showing their results and possible applications for sport psychology field.
