Abstract: The article discusses the critical role of teacher librarians in stressing the importance of learning beyond the traditional means memorization and test-taking. It elaborates on the need for these education professionals to teach and set an example of self-directed learning in their respective schools. It also expounds on the transition from "personal learning network" to the "personal learning environment" in which the learning experience is comprised of evaluating, managing, storing, curating and contributing knowledge. The author also suggests the involvement of teacher librarians in the peer professional development activities for teachers.
