| Abstract: | The author discusses a classroom science experiment for elementary children that asks them to light a light bulb using only wire and a battery, and describes students' frustrations with the formative assessment probe for studying electric circuits. The use of scientific equipment in classrooms is discussed, and the author suggests that teachers' observe students to gauge how the materials affect their conceptual learning. |
