Abstract: The author discusses the lessons provided by the 2011-2012 student strikes in Québec. He notes that the spontaneous uprising of students was a part of a long history of student mobilizing in defense of a system of accessible, public post-secondary education. He cites an example of student mobilizing and success in British Columbia in which students protested against tuition increases by coordinating town-halls and demonstrations and collecting 50,000 petition signatures.
