Abstract: The article highlights the factors that should be considered when selecting informational texts or books for school library. It describes the increasing importance and use of informational texts in classrooms, under the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The criteria for selecting informational texts include illustration, layout and design, point of view, organization and reviews and awards.
