| Abstract (English): | This paper discusses Ramon Llull's Doctrina Pueril, which he wrote in 1275 for the education of his son. It is one of the most outstanding teaching texts of the late Middle Ages and was very popular during the 14th and 15th centuries, as confirmed by the various handwritten copies that still survive. At a time when cities had acquired an incipient prominence, Llull drew up an encyclopaedia primarily intended for educating a layperson who would enter the world of active life and therefore needed to learn a trade. The work --consisting of two well-differentiated parts, one religious (the larger) and another profane (the smaller)-- stresses the role of the mechanical arts, to the detriment of the liberal arts, particularly the quadrivium, which is reduced to the cultivation of music. In any case, the ultimate goal of this school encyclopaedia --which was also used in the education of Blanquerna, the hero of one of Llull's most notable didactic novels-- was none other than to love, serve and honour God. | Abstract (Spanish): | En este artículo se presenta la Doctrina Pueril de Raimundo Lulio, que escribió el año 1275 para la formación de su hijo. Se trata de uno de los textos pedagógicos más destacados de la época bajo-medieval, que circuló profusamente durante los siglos XIV y XV como confirman las diversas copias manuscritas existentes. En un momento en que las ciudades habían adquirido un incipiente protagonismo, Lulio elaboró una enciclopedia pensando en la educación de un laico que había de dedicarse al mundo de la vida activa y que, en consecuencia, tenía que aprender un oficio. La obra --que se compone de dos partes bien diferenciadas, una religiosa que es la más extensa y otra profana más reducida-- destaca el papel de las artes mecánicas, en detrimento de las artes liberales, sobre todo del cuadrivio que se limita al cultivo de la música. En cualquier caso, el objetivo final de esta enciclopedia escolar --que además fue puesta al servicio de la formación de Blanquerna, el protagonista de una de las novelas didácticas de Lulio más notables-- no era otro que amar, servir y honrar a Dios.
