| Abstract: | Mobile computing, with ever increasing Internet speed and bandwidth and ever more portable and capable devices, shouts to be applied to teaching and learning. Fabulous graphics, real time face-to-face teleconferencing, and computing power rivaling traditional PCs, seem to promise radical leaps in learner performance. But humans learn in the same way they did 10,000 years ago, before writing was developed, and the fundamentals of instructional and information design apply more strongly than ever. Speed, portability, and glitz do not compensate for poor design. This presentation applies the timeworn basics of teaching and learning to the latest technology wave. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
