| Abstract: | The article discusses the careers of teachers in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, during the early-to-mid-20th century. It examines career patterns of Chippewa Falls grade-school and secondary-school teachers, the Chippewa Falls teacher-training program, and the influence of former Chippewa Falls superintendent Charles J. Brewer in the careers of teachers. The article examines the careers and education of several Chippewa Falls teachers including Helen Parent, Francis Wright, and Elsie Luback. The article compares and contrasts the career stability of grade-school and secondary-school teachers, the involvement in coaching sports that assisted the careers of male teachers, and the professional development of teachers in Chippewa Falls. |
