| Abstract: | In the article, the authors discuss how to empower teachers in their professional development, particularly in Canada, as of June 2014. They cite the effectiveness of collaborative, inquiry-based learning for both students and teachers as highlighted by such reports as "Reading Next" and "What Makes Middle Schools Work." They explain the four conditions supported by collaborative inquiry, including structural supports, learning and process supports, and teacher ownership/agency. |
